Over the last ten years there has been a growing interest to get boys and girls involved in junior golf, especially at an early age. The internet provides a number of great resources to support this process. The First Tee is probably the most well known junior golf program for getting young boys and girls involved in golf. The LPGA has a similar program called Girls Golf. This program is targeted for girls between the ages of 7 to 17. Organizations like these not to only teach basic golf skills but also prepare young golfers for a lifetime of golfing enjoyment. The best way to find out about other programs in your area is to contact your regional golf association or inquire at your local public course. The JuniorLinks website is another great source of junior golf information for both parents and new junior golfers.
Another great source of junior golf information is the U.S Kids Golf website. U.S Kids Golf, which is the largest manufacturer of junior golf equipment world wide, is dedicated to helping kids over the ages of 5 to 12 interested in golf. The PGA of America and U.S. Kids Golf have teamed up to launch The PGA of America Family Course Program, a nationwide initiative that is intended to provide PGA Professionals with a means to make golf more enjoyable for all members of a family, regardless of age and ability. The program includes Family Camps that are family-oriented golf camps that are held during the summer at various locations throughout the United States. Each year U.S. Kids Golf also selects the Top 50 Kids Teachers, which identifies the best junior golf instructors in the nation based upon their dedication to junior golf. And finally, U.S. Kids Golf also sponsors a network of junior golf tournaments for junior golfers 12 years and younger called Junior Golf Tours. The preceeding link provides detailed information regarding where these tours are supported and how to get your child involved.
